Riverside FarmHouse Lodging is closing.

As of May 26, 2015, Riverside FarmHouse Lodging is changing from a vacation rental to a full time rental.  Family will be moving in and renting the house.  Although this closing of the vacation rental saddens us, having our grandchildren three miles away instead of three hours away is very exciting!  Thank you to all of our former renters.  You made the past two years very enjoyable and successful.  We will reopen this website should we reopen our business.

For those of you wishing to visit Highland County, go to

Look under the "For Visitors" tab in the "Lodging" section and you will find several vacation rentals listed.  All are very nice and you will have an enjoyable, memorable vacation wherever you choose to stay.

God Bless each of you!

Riverside FarmHouse Lodging is the perfect spot for your next country vacation.  It is located on a fourth-generation farm in the beautiful Blue Grass Valley of Highland County, VA, just twelve miles from Monterey, The house was built in 1896.  This spacious house with four bedrooms provides ample space and easily sleeps eight.  Central hot water heat keeps this house comfy-warm in winter; two giant maples keep it cool in summer.

Relax on the back porch listening to the stream that is the headwaters for the Potomac River.  Guest fishing is available upon request.  Watch for deer and ground hogs on the hillside.  Enjoy cattle grazing in the summer and sheep with baby lambs in the spring. Paint or photograph the beautiful scenery that has been featured in several magazines and publications.

Located within three miles of two sugar camps makes this the ideal place for a group of up to eight visiting the Maple Festival in March.  Hiking trails in the Laurel Fork area within seven miles  appeal to the spring, summer and fall visitor.  Horseback riding is available within 30 miles.  This is one of the most photographed farms in the area and artisans will appreciate the scenes to be painted or photographed.  Winter guests will appreciate that Snowshoe Mountain Resort is just one hour away.

Make this your home-away-from-home while visiting Highland County.
